Squash Match Reports

To be honest - a slightly disappointing match for us this week at home to Canterbury.

With Angie's last minute illness (1st time in history I think), we could not field a full team, so started on the back foot 5 points down. Clive lost his winning streak by losing 9-7 in the 5th. Gaz pulled up short and had to come off due to injury once more. Despite being 2-0 up and ahead in the 3rd, Dan couldn't clinch the match, and lost 3-2. The saving grace was David, who played some awesome squash once again and came back from 1-0 down to win 3-1. David was nominated man of the match. Well deserved!!!

A great match, with some fantastic, gritty determined displays from our team.

Clive and David coming away with a win, Gaz, Danny and Angie putting on brilliant displays of grit and determination. - despite a 3-2 defeat to the league leaders by far, a great outing for our team. MOTM goes to David for a beautiful performance!!

A great double header win for us last night 4-1. Despite a last minute team change, and everyone playing up a spot after Danny's injured hand - a great effort all round and some blistering performances.

Pete is our man of the match for his epic performance last night - a fantastic 3-0 win, every game going to the max, against a younger, fitter opponent! Extremely well played Pete! We have Thanet 2 in the second round of the cup! Well done everyone!!

After a late start, and bags of effort put in by everyone, we suffered a 3-2 defeat from a side we could have taken had we not suffered further injury problems.

Mark used 'the force' and beat his opponent with no vision. Danny played a hard fought game against a very solid and steady no 2, but lost. Clive managed a 3-0 win at 3 spot. Angie played possibly the toughest no 4 spot we have encountered to date, pushing one game to 8-8. Dave stepped in at the last minute, following a call from Gazza who was injured. He put everything into his match, but his opponent was very strong for a 5 spot, and very experienced. Clive and Dave have been voted joint men of the match! Great effort by the whole team once again!!

A night of some great squash, great determination, and once again, great frustration!

A fabulous effort by all concerned! Angie turned her match around after getting smashed 9-1 the first game, to win 3-1. Clive won his match 3-0. Gaz put in a fantastic effort, carrying a multiple of niggles/injuries but couldn't quite do enough. Dave stepped in last minute for us, and despite putting on a fantastic show the first couple of games, again niggling injuries prevented a win (but attendance prevented points being fined). Dan had an epic match against a great opponent. Despite being 8-4, match ball, his opponent battled back to nip the win. We lost 3-2. Angie's great performance ensured she was voted man of the match by her team mates!!! A great effort by everyone!!!

A great win tonight for Rodmersham against a great side.

Our win was tinged with frustration as we saw Dave Rannard pull up injured once more. Danny put his demons to bed with a great win, and Angie fought very well to ensure a 3-0 win. Dave Hanslow did himself and the team proud with his first run out after his injury - fabulous win! Clive kept his winning streak alive with a 3-0.....but had a nail biting 9-8 win in the 3rd. Nice to see a gaggle of club members supporting! Angie was voted man of the match for her gutsy performance tonight, by her team mates!

What another spirited effort from our Team all the way down in Planet Thanet tonight!

Already on our back foot with all players playing above their usual position due to squad injuries and holidays, we took another battering to a very good side. Pete ran his heart out against a very talented junior, losing a 3-0, Angie was up against a strong opponent and despite putting up a great fight, lost 3-0. Clive had another long tough match and managed to pull a 3-0 out the bag, although the score does not tell the tale of the match - numerous long rallies throughout, including a 10-9 clincher.

We continue to be plagued by injury, with Gaz Clarke having to retire after 2 games of his match during his first run out of the season for us. the Hammy rears it's head again - a 3-1 loss at no 2 string. Danny looked like he was on fire, taking the first 2 games of his match. His opponent however, dug in and his experience and consistent clever shot play saw Danny lose 3-2. A great run out for Danny at the no 1 spot though.

We have a couple of weeks rest before our home game against Hythe on Tuesday 3rd November. Please come along and show your support for the your team - let's hope we have an injury free squad to perform and we are able to start turning the tables! Clive was voted man of the match by his team mates.

Play Squash at RodmershamA great effort again last night by our team, who ventured out into the dark, wet winter's night to play our away match to Canterbury. It was certainly a night to test our mettle and resolve.

The Canterbury Team was extremely strong - a potential league championship side. Our team took a bit of a battering, losing 4-1, and having our No 1 string Dave Rannard have to retire after 2 games with a thigh injury. We are hoping the return match next year on our own patch will be met with an injury free Rodmersham squad, which we hope will turn the tables and see a very different result. Clive Morris was voted man of the match by his team mates for producing the only win of the evening 3-1. Let's see how we fair next Tuesday all the way down in darkest Thanet!

Date for our next home match is Tuesday 03rd November against Hythe 1 - come along and support your team!.

It was brilliant to see club members turn up to support the team, making for a very good (and exciting) atmosphere.
